I'll believe it when I see it. Every few months for the last 10+ years this rumor pops up. Axl no-showed the Hall of Fame induction in 2012 so that says a lot right there. He said it was about mystery surrounding the Hall, where the money goes, etc which is bullshite.

Mangers comments June 4, 2014:
quote:

Duswalt says he and the rest of the old-school GN'R camp think Axl and Slash are closer than ever before to patching things up, mostly because original Guns bassist Duff McKagan has recently played onstage with Guns N' Roses, and Duswalt says they're hoping McKagan will be an ambassador of sorts. "Duff is paving the way to open the gates again," says Duswalt. "Axl and Duff are really getting along well at the concerts, so there's an opening."

Duswalt says Duff stepping in to cover for present-day Guns bassist Tommy Stinson while the latter's playing a few shows with The Replacements was the first glimmer of hope in a long time. "About five years ago, Slash went to Axl's house one day, and Axl didn't want to see him," says Duswalt. "We [had] thought for a while, 'yes' [a reunion could happen], but then it just got ugly again and we thought, 'There's no way.'"

The crux of the issue between Axl and Slash has always been a mystery to civilians, including even diehard Guns fans. Duswalt tells ABC News Radio, "It was a thing that happened at the end of [Use Your Illusion]," meaning there was a specific incident that precipitated the split. "There were also the differences in music," Duswalt adds, "like Slash wanted to do more hard-rock stuff and Axl wanted to do more ballads, rock ballads. There was that difference, but there was a specific thing that happened that both of them are at odds over."

Duswalt says when it comes to Axl and Slash, he knows "for a fact they hate each other right now. It's bad. Axl is a loyal guy and you get on his bad side and some people don't come back, but Slash and him were so close. We [in the old-school Guns camp] all have a feeling it will happen. It's gonna happen in the next two years...there's an opening because of Duff playing with Axl."

Also tons of other sites reporting similar in last month or two (some sites say no way)

Why would Slash even want to? He's making fantastic albums right now working with top notch musicians and consumate pro's. Bringing in Myles Kennedy thrust him into the younger alternative rock crowd and he has complete control over music direction. Royalties from Guns, Velvet, Snakepit, his own solo albums now, endorsements from Gibson, Marshall, Seymour Duncan, Ernie Ball, Dunlop, MTV Games & Electronic Arts.....and the biggest thing, not having to deal with Axl's ego. Where's the motivation to go back to Guns? All of his creativity is being harnessed on his own terms within his own cherry picked band.

Would Axl allow Steven Adler back in the band is a big question also. Could Adler be counted on to play all the songs correctly & make it through an entire tour knowing his issues with drugs? If this acutally happened I would want to see the ORIGINAL Appetite lineup & no Matt Sorum. Izzy grew up with Axl & they are still friends so Slash & Adler are the only big question marks. I will belive all of this speculation when I see them all onstage playing together.

Depends on how much he likes money (lots of it). I know he already has lots but music execs say a GnR reunion tour would be the highest grossing tour of all-time. The other problem is that no one outside the band or manager knows the exact incident that occurred (supposedly a single incident led to the entire fallout). Axl is rumored to be at fault and Slash is wanting an apology. That aint happening imo.

I don't see what the point would be... Axl is absolutely terrible these days.

Caught the "Guns n Roses" show that was on AXS a few weeks back and it was terrible. He can't hit the notes, he quits singing on the key parts, and he is a fricking slob.

I don't see what Slash would have to gain by putting himself into such a shitty situation.

A GNR reunion is about as likely as a Beatles, Jimi Hendrix Experience and Doors reunion.

bullshite, bullshite, bullshite. The Rolling Stones, U2, they had mega-grossing tours because they had hot albums and huge catalogs to draw upon.
Axl Rose has destroyed so much fan goodwill over the years. He's a fat slob right now, who can't sing and he looks like an a-hole. Plus, if you buy tickets, there's no guarantee that the shows will happen, or they'll start 4 hours late if he shows up.

I have no desire to pay money to see Axl try and sing the songs. No thanks. I really hope Slash tells Axl to go frick himself.

Why do we think Izzy will show up? He's on good terms with everybody, but remember, he's the first guy to leave the band on his own, which was the major first step to the band's dissolution. I think Izzy was the first one to put this band in his rearview mirror, and he's not that keen on a reunion. I'm not saying he wouldn't do it, but I also don't think he's a sure thing. More than anyone, he seems like he doesn't care that much about it.

I just read Slash's book (11 cents on amazon, hardcover ) and never realized those dudes minus Axl were on heroin the ENTIRE time they were huge.

Decent book I guess but every story involved Slash 'nodding off'. Got sort of old afterwhile.

Yeah - surely the drugs and alcohol have stripped much of the talent from the guys other than Axl the Hutt and don't get me started on him.

The biggest band in world for the briefest of moments - and they were good, but so incredibly flawed personally. It's amazing that any of them are still alive, much less all of them.

ETA: I'd be more likely to go see a show with Izzy Stradlin' and the Juju Hounds, Slash's Snakepit and Adler's Appetite, than anything under the GnR banner right now.

Out of the classic lineup (AFD) only Axl and Izzy are over 50. Out of the classic "B" lineup (drop Adler, add Sorum) - only Axl, Izzy and Matt are over 50.

And they look a thousand - it's not the years, it's the mileage.

I can't see an original lineup happening. Izzy doesn't care for the limelight and Adler's drumming is suspect. Sorum is a much better drummer but I could see it happening without him. I think getting Axl, Slash, and Duff maybe the best one can hope for. I can't see Axl giving up total control and getting rid of everyone there now.

Plus the article says Axl and Slash are closer than in a long time but that doesn't mean crap. Hell, Waters and Gilmour are closer than they've been in decades but I don't see Waters coming back in the fold.
