Will try and keep this short and sweet and to the point. I have a landscape business and have been cutting this guys lawn since march. The way i set up payment for him was the first of each month. So say i cut his yard three times in april, he would then pay me first week of June.
Anyway near the end of May he had me trim some low hanging tree limbs off his house and prune some bushes. Bill was $350. Well here we are almost end of July and haven't seen one dollar. I have called, he doesn't answer. Send him a text and he will respond a day or two later saying he's sorry and will get it to me ASAP. Has done this since middle of June. And again two days ago and haven't heard back. I would like to know what legal action I can take to get my money. We both live Ascension. Thanks

Wait, he stole from you?! I've learned on the OT today that you can take his life, even if he's unarmed and begging for his life.

ETA: please don't do this

Send him a text saying that you are going to come knock on his door if he doesn't answer your call and make payment.

Go talk to the justice of the peace? I think they can show you the process for small claims court.

not 100% sure of this, but would probably be my first step after a certified letter.

First, I'd stop cutting his grass. Second, send him a letter via certified mail setting forth how much he owes you. If he doesn't pay within 30 days, you'll file suit is small claims court. He'll also have to pay fees and costs. You can also skip the letter and use, and the lawsuit will trigger 30 days for him to pay to avoid the fees and costs.

I'll give you the cite for the la open account statute.

do a $350 worth of damage to his car or property.

He can either pay you the $350 or spend the $350 making "other improvements."

Thanks. I haven't cut his grass in about 3 weeks. I think I will skip the certified letter and go straight to small claims. I'm just tired of wasting my time with this loser. Do I go see justice of peace of or civil division with sheriff office?
