But hey, it's only $300M, right?

And absolutely NOTHING can go wrong, can it?

Over/under on how many hard drive failures will be claimed?

$300 million? And still not finished 6 years later?

You know, I used to feel for some Fedgov contractors to have to deal with Obama's executive order crap, but frick em. This 'IT company' is making $300 mil for a 6 year unfinished project? Wow.

That's not that uncommon.

Never ever feel sorry for federal contractors. They make out like bandits on all contracts, especially the IT contracts. The entire mess with the Obamacare web site was courtesy of well paid federal contractors. This SS story is about par for the course.

Truth.

There are a lot of IT projects which are expensive clusterfricks. It usually takes someone not vested in the previous decision to either end the contract or fix the mess.

Maryland-based Lockheed Martin was selected in 2011 as the prime contractor on the project.
Let's look on the bright side here, people. At least it's not $300 billion, and at least the computers aren't catching on fire in the server room.

There's always a push to privatize/outsource IT work but unfortunately IT contracts become black holes for money.
