I took him in the late 3rd round last night in a mock draft above people like Bush, Sankey, Vereen, Mathews. Good move or bad move? I'm high on him this year. Either agree with me or help me change my mind .

FWIW, this was my favorite mock so far. 12-team Standard League.

QB - Romo, Eli Manning
RB - Murray, Gerhart, Rice, Hill, Mason, Donald Brown
WR - DT88, VJax, Terrance Williams, Miles Austin
TE - Ertz
DEF - Seahawks
K - Gostkowski

I like Vereen better. I sort of like Bush, but am hesitant to draft him. Rather, I've been targeting Bell a few rounds later. Reports from the Lions are that they're looking at more of a 50-50 split. I think he's a slightly better value.

That said, I do like Gerhart. Probably the only reason I am not real high on him is he's in Jax. I recall MJD having some shite years there towards the end, that were not entirely his fault. And I haven't seen any real improvement. They still have no QB and no passing game, so look out 8 man box. Of course, when filling in for Peterson, he faced 8 men and did well, so I don't know...

Non-PPR. That's why I went Gerhart. Otherwise I like Vereen over Bush for PPR. That contract for J. Bell makes me think they're gonna continue to use him equally with Bush and hurt his value. Just my $0.02

That just goes to show how much RBS have changed in FF. Toby frickin Gerhart is a 3rd rounder.

I don't think its necessarily RBs changing. There are a shite ton of talented RBs in the league. Its just teams are starting to do this committee BS and starting to involve them in the passing game more. So now we've got RBs and RBs who can catch. I'm trying to target as many bell cows as possible. If Jax is feeding Gerhart the ball every chance they get, then I'm OK with taking him knowing he's going to be in the Top 10-15 in rush attempts

Toby is a good back. He just never got a chance.

Gerhart may do alright in that system this year. He'll be a bell cow for sure. I would take him before Bush, but not Vereen. PPR or non-PPR. Gerhart averaged 7+ yrds/carry last year. If he comes even close to that he's worthy of a 3rd round+ pick.

It's an offense that will not be very good at moving the ball with a rookie WR as the no.1 threat, they will usually be playing from behind so they will be passing more than running, and he's a back that is not dynamic in the open field with avg/below avg receiving skills. That's how I feel about Gerhart.

oh, well that changes things a little. Still dont like Gerhart this year, mainly because I dont have confidence in the RB position on the Jaguars team. They could have Adrian Peterson this year and I wouldnt think of him as a Tier 1 back.

He is still slow and can't really make much happen in the open field. And it's Jax. He is being drafted too high for me to consider him.

If he would be the bell cow in Houston (no Foster obviously) St. Louis, Washington, etc, then different story.

this is the big problem. Last year, MJD didn't do shite, had 240 touches on the season vs. 299 and 343 in '10 and '11. His avg dropped over 1 ypc. I think it was due mainly to incredibly shitty line play and the fact that every game, they ditched the run midway through the 2nd quarter.
