It felt like it took forever for him to get here. Hopefully he can have an immediate impact

Yep. Was expected that he would've some troubles getting enrolled, but nothing too serious. Hopefully the clearinghouse doesn't frick us hard like they did with Rashard.

That worries me that he may not be in shape. I hope so though. Oh, and

I'm sure he will be ready by the first SEC game (Sept.20)

My prediction:

He goes the Michael Brockers route. He'll need a redshirt year to get in shape (he needs to lose weight, Brockers needed to gain it) and add muscle. He'll be a major contributor in 2015 and will breakout in 2016. The kid has a lot of talent.

highly doubt it. We are breaking in 2 new DT's this year as starters and we WILL need to rely on as many solid DT's as we can. IF TV is ready to play with the big boys, no need for a redshirt

That will be determining factor on playing time. Those freshman who came in in shape have the leg up, and Moffitt stated that yesterday on 104.5. We sure could use Valentine, but he was already a little heavy and I realistically do not know if he could have really gotten into playing shape.

Our backups this year will be Bain, Gilmore, and Herron. Unless someone gets hurt, I don't see us needing a 6th tackle.

Looks to me like Valentine carries bad weight and used his size to dominate in high school. That won't work in the SEC. The kid is talented though.

Does anyone know if Travonte made it to campus today? I looked and did not see an update on whether or not he made it to Baton Rouge. Sorry if I missed update.

Do y'all really see him jumping ahead of Bain, Gilmore and Herron?

Right now, I don't see Valentine needing a red-shirt. Although I don't see him playing significant time this season either. There's a difference between being in shape and being physically ready to play on the line in the SEC. The defensive staff will ease Valentine into action his freshman year IMO.

I don't know about jumping ahead, but he's sure big enough that if motivated and in shape he may push his way to some pt
