Anyone watching BR Metro council on Non Discrimination Act?

Ch 21 Cox
I'm just to the right of Ghengas Khan on most issues but seems like this is a good opportunity to extend the olive branch and not put on record "no gays wanted."
Have I been suckered here? I get it's a slippery slope on a lot of these issues, but this is meaningless resolution right? Places like Shreveport and Starkville passed the same? The LA Family Forum is is all behind this right?
It is pretty embarrassing to hear testimonies from businesses basically saying, come the frick on, don't make us explain this to clients
...the against faction just began speaking. 2/2 LFF members speaking. A bunch of names read who don't care to speak.

The only arguments I've ever heard are:
1) If we pass such a resolution then that would bind the city to other expectations in terms of how we treat gays, which could lead to gay marriage or domestic partnership benefits or infringement on religious liberty.
2) If we pass such a resolution, that would say that we reject God and that Baton Rouge is not a godly city.
The first doesn't seem to hold water if this is a non-binding resolution, and in regard to the second, no one cares what the Metro Council does anyway.

Gene Mills said he didn't have any enemies that he knew of on the other side. That got a laugh. It should have. He has done so much to make enemies, to say that he had none on the other side means either he is ignorant or a flat out liar.

The ordinance will not pass. Needs 7 votes. There are 12 council members. 5 confirmed "NO" votes before the meeting. One absent member. 2 confirmed "Yes" votes. No way to reach 7 with only 4 remaining council members (who will probably abstain).
It is not a non-binding resolution, it will be a binding city ordinance if it passes.
The Metro Council is choosing the wishes of the LFF over the wishes of the business community. Once again, Jesus runs the Metro Council.

I honestly feel like I'm watching a church service right now.

I just pulled up the live online feed and someone is talking about open sexual displays in public.
What is the practical impact of the ordinance? Is this just a mission statement type of thing or is it an anti-discrimination ordinance that businesses must respect?

I, honestly, haven't heard seen one good argument against the ordinance tonight. It's all Jesus stuff and a whole lot of shite that makes no sense.
This guy right now is going off.

So they're not going to vote on it tonight?
Posted on 7/23/14 at 8:32 pm to Ghostfacedistiller
I don't understand what would be better if this thing passed.

Nope. By law they had to end the meeting at 8:30. Gets pushed back to the next meeting now.

So are you saying it's wrong that he fights for Christian's, the Bible, and a traditional families rights?
I don't understand why people that stand up against a minority belief, (this being not knowing what gender you are) are crucified!

Nothing. But as a lot of the businesses said, BR will be quick to be labeled in a negative light. I work with LED and BRAC on some issues and this shite is embarrassing to have to explain to others. I better read up on it since I may have to justify/downplay it.

I think the latter. Need to read up on details but I don't believe it's anything earth shattering

This surprises me that a city the size of Baton Rouge doesn't already have this. Atlanta has had this for twenty years.

makes me embarrassed to be from BR listening to these morons

I dont want to live in a theocracy, be it Islam, Catholic, or Judisim. I adhere to my beliefs and live my life. This a poor battle to pick IMO and is no threat to religious freedom.
