I got a 16hp Vanguard go devil rig... It needs some work done to it to get it ready for duck season. Who does good work on these?

I'd try Go-Devil, have always been fair to me.

I would probably bring it to Go Devil, they made it, they can fix it.

Does $70/hr labor sound about right?

I don't know what marine mechanics make, but that is much cheaper than a lot of auto mechanics. They are usually $90 and up.

But then again, it is just a lawmower engine.

Try Able Lawn Equipment on Millerville Road.

Well this sucks... I dropped the boat off at go devil this morning only to have them call me back and say since it isn't a go devil build they won't touch it.

So I called ascension equipment and they won't touch it. Able lawn equipment's number is always busy.

Any other suggestions?

Just called gautreauxs, pro power, Ike's fix it shop. All no go's

Apparently no one wants to take my money

Oooohhhh. I thought you meant that it was go-devil brand. Is it homemade? Whoever made it should work on it, I would hope. I don't know where you would be able to find a shade tree mechanic. Craigslist?

CRAIGSLIST OUTBOARD MECHANIC

If not, ask these guys. They should be able to point you in the right direction

No I'm not working on the frame or prop or anything like that.

It's a Briggs & Stratton Vanguard v-twin 16hp

I just want the oil changed and carburetor cleaned.

It's the same engine as on "go devil" rigs.

Just wasn't assembled by go devil

If you can't find anyone, I would just figure out how to change the oil myself and run some seafoam in it.

When you said go-devil i figured you meant well a go-devil... Simon's on Roddy Road in Gonzales might be worth a shot.

I'm pretty sure I've asked if he works on law mower engines and someone told me no. But what the hell I've called 9 places what's 10?

I would but I don't have the time right now... Healing from surgery, trying to sell my house and buy land with a new born all at the same time.

hell, if no one will do it, what you want done is simple enough. I can do it in the garage one night if that is all you want.

Just called a shade tree guy... He said that the carb on my engine is the worst thing to work on. He said he will take it if I can't find anyone else. Haha apparently Briggs has been laying the whoop arse on mechanics

I live in geismar. I have never worked on that engine in particular, but I can tinker with anything. What is the specific model number of that engine?
