Anybody buy one of these (replacement for the G37)? I was pretty close to buying one but now not so sure. I have read a lot of good things in terms of performance but have heard some complaints from other message boards:

1. Claims of terrible odor (onions and BO) as if it were straight from seinfield. What's worse is that the smell might not surface until after you buy the car

2. Slow startup up with the computer/navigation system. Some experiences with it sporadically blanking out.

Any Q50 drivers have good or bad experiences?

Seinfield BO

The smell is from the insulation in the sunroof, etc. You can get it replaced.

WTF is that all about? Something melts over time?

If you buy a new car and have to replace shite like that, you have got to be a dumb mofo especially if you know it ahead of time.

Performance stats have little to do with overall driver feel. Get a 535i.

Do you have one? How do you like it?

Think I'm going to go test drive tomorrow

I've been looking at them for a bit lately.

Haven't read issues of the odors.

Slow startup seems to be a sporadic complaint. Guys I know with them says it's not obnoxiously long. Most smart systems these days take a bit to startup. Seems to have gotten better with newest builds.

Steering. The Direct Adaptive Steering is the biggest complaint. If you get the package with it, be aware it's a fully electronic steer by wire system. It feels a bit off, and had some failures in early builds. The performance of it seems great, but may take a little getting used to. During my test drive, I didn't like it.

Tires are another complaint. They are all run flat, expensive to replace, and sub-par performance. However, they are not staggered, although I wish they were. Allows you to rotate for even wear and potentially longer life.

VQ engine is great, and 7sp trans is well tested from G37.

Have you driven the IS?

The FSport doesn't even have memory seating. Also no cooled seats. The 8sp trans felt a bit clunky, and the throttle was very overbearing. Always wanting to go into Economy mode.

I haven't driven the 335 or S4. But so far the Q50 or IS350fsport have not impressed me. And I really wanted to like them.

I have the last gen 5 without the turbo. The I6 mated to the 6 speed manual is glorious. It's my wife's car.

I have that issue with my G.
It's not Seinfeld bad, but I definitely notice it.

Other than that, the car is awesome. It drives like it's on rails.

I've driven them quite a bit, and being that they were all rentals, I dogged the shite out of em. I never noticed anything with the smell, and the navigation and music player (through iPhone) all worked well. They shite and get, good acceleration and handling and it still has something left over 100.

I'd agree with that.

Drove one while my car was in the shop. Great technology. Performance didn't seem much different than the G.

Spend slightly more. Get a chevy ss. Have way more fun. And never have anyone look twice at the car.
