Article on 1st incident at Athletico Madrid

Today's abuse (BBC Story)

quote:

Manchester City's under-21s walked off the pitch from a friendly in Croatia after an alleged incident of racial abuse on a City player by an opponent.
The game against HNK Rijeka was abandoned after the incident involving French midfielder Seko Fofana, who was sent off for an off-the-ball clash.
A statement said: "A decision was taken by the management staff to withdraw from the field and cancel the game."
The team is coached by former France international Patrick Vieira.
A statement from Rijeka read: "Manchester City coach Patrick Vieira entered the field, something was discussed with the referee, and then to the amazement of a well-filled stadium he took his team off the pitch.
"What are the reasons? They are known only to him."
City added that club representatives are liaising with officials, the match organisers and the Croatian Football Association to pursue the matter further.
Fofana, 20, joined City from French club Lorient in 2013 but has yet to make a first-team debut.
Walk-offs over racism are rare, with a friendly between AC Milan and Italian lower division club Pro Patria in January 2013 the highest profile occurrence.
Milan's Kevin-Prince Boateng sparked the end of the game by picking up the match-ball and kicking it into the crowd following chants from the crowd.
In October, City midfielder Yaya Toure called for stronger action against racism after he was subject to chanting from CSKA Moscow fans.

Good. This shite is getting old. If people can't be civilized, they deserve to lose their price of admission.

I'm glad they had someone like Viera in charge to say we're not putting up with this crap.

What about in situations (most) where it's like 2% of the crowd?

Wait so Fofana was sent off, then someone said something racial at him, and then Viera decided to call the game?

I think you have the first two backwards.
Something racial was said - he reacted and got sent off - the players then told Viera what happened and they walked off.
