Screw that, do a carwash or something. I'm not just giving them money because they ask for it. Kids need to learn to work for things they want.

You just know those fat parents sitting on their butt while the children walk around traffic with buckets are pocketing this cash to pay bills or whatever. Tourist in nola are the main reason for the problem I'm sure. I can see some Dutch fool dropping $20 in the bucket.

1. Have lots of children
2. Get on welfare and SS payments for said children.
3. Use children to collect cash in buckets from idiots on the weekend.
4.????
5. Profit

It's pathetic. If you can't afford to put your kids in those programs, then don't do it and expect others to pay for it. I have no problems with fundraisers if they are actually trying to sell something. But panhandling is ridiculous. I usually throw handfulls of pennies at them as hard as I can.

If they want to bake cookies, wash cars, sell jambalaya, then I will help them out on occasion. The one's who sit out front of Sam's and just ask for donations never get a penny from me.

Hold out your hand and society will foot the bill. That's what's wrong with the US now. Handouts.

They usually get the picture.

There really should be laws against this. It's apparently a growing problem in BR.

Recently a group of young men was exposed by a former coach... Saying those guys graduated high school two years ago. Story will never run because it would be deemed racist. Wake up people!

A lot of that is spending money for the adults when they leave the kids unsupervised in Las Vegas

this might be a little late for you now, but we did a gun raffle. 50 bucks per ticket, 1000 tickets and we use the pick 3 numbers from saturday night(so basically you 52 chances to win with your $50 ticket purchase).

we spent about half of it to buy the guns(different gun each week) and the rest went to the team.

I saw a study a few a few years ago about "professional" panhandlers and how much they can make.

Basically, if you work a busy street in a big city, and you work it hard, you can make some serious cash.

I get hit up at the office all the time for donating to sports teams. I will donate a minimum of 100 bucks to any local youth sport as long as it is a city, parks and rec, or school league.

If you ask me to sponsor a 9 year old girls softball travel team, I will do my best not to peel the skin off your face and force you to eat it.

I agree. I am charitable, but these organizations are fricking scum. They have done more harm than good.

Just awful, poorly thought out structures for youth. I can see grades nine through twelve, but when you have average nine and ten year olds traveling hours to play soccer, when you live in a city with millions of people, you've lost touch with reality.

My wife played Olympic Development Program Soccer and she ended up walking away from scholarship opportunities to get away from the insanity. Same story with her sister, too demanding for most kids. Imagine that similar travel structure and time monopolization for a kid who isn't going on to play at a higher level.

i've been seeing this shite in lafayette at the corner of pinhook and kaliste saloom for a while now

pisses me off beyond belief to see that fat arse "coach" sitting in a lawn chair under a freaking beach umbrella while 7 year olds hold cardboard signs in the blistering heat asking for money to go to the "National Championship"

To be fair, plenty of "white" schools and kids use those facilities too. I actually think that the Louisiana Leadership stuff is great. We needed better athletic facilities that promote teamwork and leadership in BR. If they fundraise correctly, I have no problem with LL

People put WAY too much importance into these programs.

Kids should be out running around and exploring at those young ages.
