Fair enough.

Should I let it go or is calling Crawfish "Mudbugs" the most disgusting thing ever?

"Hey, I want an order of bugs that live in the mud."

Is that me being pretentious?

I'm thinking the people who call them Mudbugs aren't from Louisiana.

If I'm wrong so be it, I'll let it go. I've been wrong many times before.

I can get over the mudbug thing but what absolutely burns my arse is when they call a sack of crawfish a bag of crawfish

Had a customer in Jackson MS that would call and order 60 bags and it would drive me crazy

I never say it, but it doesn't bother me beyond thinking that it's overly kitschy. Sounds like something a waiter in a tourist trap would say to sound more "authentic".

I don't have a problem with mudbugs. It annoys me that my phone corrects crawfish to crayfish.

fin, as long as his check cleared or his cash was green, he could have called em 60 pouches of mudcraybugs for all I'd care.

eta: I'd say, "yessir, no problem, but we're currently running a special on 75 pouches, could I splain it in more detail"?

I never call them that, and don't know anyone who does.

It annoys me when TV folks say mudbugs.

But I give a pass to the Mudbug Madness festival folks.

Alliteration and all.

Any alternative or mispronunciation aggravates me

Crayfish
Crawdads
Mudbugs

But so does any restaurant that uses the term "Cajun" in a dish. Such as "Cajun seasoning" and the like.

I've heard plenty of Louisianaians call them mudbugs, if you hear crawdads you run like hell.

When I was at restaurant depot, my buyer was from New York and he called them bags. Used to bug me too.

So long as you don't insist on calling poboys "poor boys", you're cool.
