Hold it for an occasion. It's not the most rare, mindblowing beer you'll ever taste, but it's a pretty awesome quad.

And if you like quads, you'll really like it.

Do you really? I wasn't aware that was your style.

You should hold it until you knock that broad up.

ut, I'm gonna say hold it until you get a BXN from Jax. And when you do hit me up

Bottle is too small for a koozie.

I kid, but honestly I couldn't tell a difference between it and St. Bernardus ABT 12.

Have a bottle. Waiting to open it for not sure when. I think I told my friend I'd wait to open it with him. Don't remember.

There's a drink by date on the cap. I think the US release was best by 2016 or so.

Same recipe, different yeast and water.

If I had a bottle of Westy, I would drink sooner rather than later. But that's just me.

That's just for some goofy US reg I believe. It's supposedly good aged for several years if cellared properly. I've got three bottles left. I don't have a cellar though.

Probably spoiled. Send them to me and I'll dispose of them properly.

I thought it lived up to the hype, one of the best beers I've tried, but I've always been a big Quad fan. Still have 3 more cellared for a later date.

Aren't Westvleteren's just capped with no cork? I'd probably drink it sooner rather than later myself unless I had cellar on the cooler end.

Not sure if there is any US regulation, considering we buy traditional lambic bottles here that have best by dates that are 20 years out.

But I agree, it should last very long if properly cellared. I talked a St. Bernardus rep at Avenue Pub a about a month ago who told me he has had 20+ year bottles of Abt 12 that drank fantastic. He did say that the oldest Abt 12 he had tried was something crazy like 34 years and it wasn't good, oxidized, hardly any head when poured.

Correct. Ironically, Abt 12 uses the original Saint Sixtus yeast and Westy switched the Westmalle yeast at some point.

good but its rarity supersedes itself. They are many readily available Quads that are just as good (ABT 12, Rochefort 10, Konigshoven. Westmalle)
