At a Saturday appearance at a Silicon Valley tech conference, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky) told Californians who’ve leaned heavily Democratic in the past that President Barack Obama did not have their best interests in mind.
“I come out here and people say, ‘We loved President Obama, you know. We’re all for President Obama. We’re from the tech community,’… Why? Why would you be? He’s not for innovation. He’s not for freedom,” Paul said.
“He’s for the protectionism crowd. You know he’s for the crowd that would limit the activities of these companies.”
Sen. Paul was speaking at the inaugural Lincoln Labs Reboot conference, designed to bring conservative idea to Silicon Valley.
Paul told the crowd he is filled with optimism when he visits the California tech community, and that they should use their creativity to circumvent the mess in Washington.
“Don’t be depressed with how bad government is. Use your ingenuity, use your big head to think of solutions the marketplace can figure out, that the idiots and trolls in Washington will never come up with,” Paul said.
The Kentucky senator also reminded the tech-minded crowd of his challenges to National Security Agency and is controversial surveillance methods. “It really isn’t about what’s been done, but what could be done,” Paul said.
“I think people, most of the people who work for government actually have good motives. They’re trying to stop terrorists, like we should have the government try to stop terrorists… But the potential for abuse, unless we obey the law, is out there,” Paul warned.

California is gone for republicans. Sad, too. The state voted in droves for conservative republicans up until 1992. Then everything got goofy. From 1952 to 1992, republicans won 9 of 11 elections here.
Beware the dangers of a declining white population.
