Here is the current list:

1. Brett Favre 71,838 *1991-2010*
2. Peyton Manning 64,964 *1998-2013*
3. Dan Marino 61,361 *1983-1999*
4. John Elway 51,475 *1983-1998*
5. Drew Brees 51,081 *2001-2013*
6. Warren Moon 49,325 *1984-2000*
7. Tom Brady 49,149 *2000-2013*

Obviously, only 3 of the players are active. Peyton is 38, Brady is 37 in August, and Brees is 35.

Will Peyton pass up Favre? Do Brees or Brady have a chance at passing up either?

Brady will never catch Brees

Brees will finish above Marino and be 3rd all-time.

Brees

13,000 yeards in three seasons is not out the question.. Its hard to imagine Brees playing 3 more years plus however many Manning is playing (so 4 more seasons for now)

Assuming Brady and Brees play until they are 40 and stay healthy and each pass for at least 4,000 yards each season

Brady- 61,000
Brees- 70-71,000

Peyton will be the all time leader without question

The top three will look like this for many years:

Manning
Favre
Brees

Yes, assuming he stays healthy he should pass Favre.

I think Brees has a good chance at catching Favre in three seasons, but passing Manning will all depend on how much longer Manning keeps playing and stays healthy. And of course Brees staying healthy.

Brady passes Moon and Elway this year, and an outside shot at Marino before he retires... don't think he gets to Favre levels and stays behind Manning and Brees.

Peyton passes Favre
Brees passes Peyton

If Brees has below average seasons (by his standards) for the next three years, he'll be ahead of Manning's current pace.

So I'm not understanding how some are automatically throwing Brees out.

5 more seasons averaging slightly above 4000 yards and 30 TDs puts Brees at 71,000+ yards passing and 513 TDs

The GOAT

He can probably play another 2-3 years. He will shatter the record.

Do you really think he can keep that up until he's 40 years old?

I think it'll be hard for Brees to pass Manning, but you just predicted Manning to shatter the current record, which he'll do at 40.

We have a sample of Peyton Manning near 40. He just had the best season a quarterback has ever had at age 38.

7,300 yards per season. Piece of cake.

Nearly 7,000 passing yards per season, for 3 seasons?

Is that what he's thinking?

Andy Dalton. Do interception returns count as yardage?

But he legitimately has a higher chance of a career-ending injury every play, not some freak play that has to do it.

And 2 more by manning of the same still puts him ahead of your Brees projection.

Eta: manning has a higher average than Brees per year and more years under his belt. So he would have to continue his average and play longer. Let's not forget Manning missed an entire season too. Brees didn't do jack his rookie year, so those can cancel each other out
