Bought an S5 a little bit after launch and sometimes it is extremely sluggish when it comes to turning on and touch recognition.

I will hit the on button and it will take quite a bit of time to actually flip on if it does at all. I end up getting impatient and hit it again only to go into a vicious delayed cycle the phone switching on/off.

Also sometimes when making phones calls, it will freeze at the call screen when trying to hit any numbers (voice-mail password for example.)

Is a hard reset in order? Should I just expect this from now on? I have an insurance plan for it through best buy, so I could even try and get a new one.

I was impatient and didn't want to wait a couple months.

Sometimes changing a launcher can help with lag. I use Nova. If that doesn't help and you're comfortable using custom roms or learning how to use them I would do that. If you don't want to do that I personally would get rid of the phone and get a G3 or HTC M8. I've learned my lesson with Samsung phones.

I think the dynamic notifications app was causing the problem. I uninstalled it and it has instantly gotten better. I'll see if it lasts tho.

yeah, same, with both that I've had so far as well.

I think the touchscreen didn't register my tap, then I tap again and it jumps two more pages or options.

also when calling anything with customer service prompts(press 1 for, press 2 for) is a pain in the arse. the numbers disappear and it takes like 5 key touches to get back to the call screen with number prompts.

what I have found to be the issue for me is that the sides of the screen is too sensitive so that the meat of my palm will touch the side screen when trying to operate one handed and that confuses the operating system/screen sensor. if I use two hands or lay phone flat on table, it runs faster/smoother...which sucks because only girls use both hands.

So it looks we have the same problems.

Like I said in my previous post. Uninstalling Dynamic Notifications app has help quite a bit. If you are running that then I would recommend an uninstall.

I might try a hard reset if it doesn't get better. I was using the official Samsung leather flip case, which was even more of a pain in the arse before I switched. The phone was supposed to turn on when you open the case, but half the time it didn't.
