I Need Well Reasoned Opinion on The Leftovers

I watched the first three (I think it's three) episodes, but missed last week after the first few minutes and all of tonight.
Question. Should I give a shite? Should I make any effort whatsoever to catch up? Will watching it enrich my life? How about mildly entertain me?

Not a chance.
The only reason I've watched this far is there is jack shite else on tv this time of year and I'm getting burned out binge re-watching Boardwalk before the final season.

IMO the show could have been great but seems like they have shitty writers. It will probably take a long time for them to work some stuff out. The story is mostly original but almost everything they touch on I think "it would be better if they went another direction with that".
I will try to watch cause I want to like it but they are butchering the hell out of anything interesting.

Last week's episode about the preacher was actually my favorite episode.
It's different enough to keep my attention so far. For now I wanna see where the story is going.

This show is TERRIBLE. I just finished the 3rd episode and it will be my last.
