Drudge has a headline that Jerry Brown is considering running for president.

It got me thinking. If someone put a gun to my head and said you have to vote for one of the democrats I think I would pull the lever for Brown.

Brown has been a Governor and a Mayor. He has a surplus in the California budget--thanks to some tax increase but he cut spending too.

I couldn't believe this was a democrat that said this:

quote:

“When he came out here, you got your hands in the dirt, you got some people to work with you,” he says. “Here we’re trying to use government to do those things, and it doesn’t feel quite the same way. Welfare creates dependency and builds the power of the state. If everything is state-centric, it doesn’t fit with the idea that we can do more on our own.”

Reviving California’s economy has required him to embrace big business: “People who do things tend to have a lot of money at the end of the day. It’s not the granola crowd who are going to move mountains.”

Isn't it wild that the democrats have become so radically liberal that Governor Moonbeam is the most moderate, pragmatic name among the leftist names being floated for President?

Pretty remarkable turn around out there. I've never pulled the lever for a Dem in a National election, but if the repubs nominate a creationist neo-con... And he's the dem nominee, I may vote for him.

Much better than the radical Warren or the corrupt Clintons. Biden--GEEZ.

Brown has done a really good job in California. I'd vote for him.

One thing about Brown is that he has always been a straight shooter. He says what he thinks regardless of whether it may offend the partisan liberals. The guy is a breath of fresh air in many ways.

there is nothing like a real budget to supervise to make a politician more pragmatic. Without a money press Oakland and California had to deal with their budget.

The man would be 79 years old on inauguration day 2017.

He's done some good things in CA yes, but good lord, he's way past any point to be President.

This has to be a joke. What's he gonna run on? "Elect me and I'll turn America into California!"

God forbid the rest of the country become more like the tech startup capital and innovation hub of the world.

California has one of the best university systems in the country, with a far higher graduation rate than many other states, including Texas.

So, it's not all bad.

Jerry Brown is the man, but he would be taking office at 80 years old. Don't see it happening, unfortunately.
