Never realized how impressive Harris was in this game.

Harris is definitely better. He has the accuracy and confidence to throw the deep ball consistently (just as CLM noted). Jennings looks as hesitant as he did in the Iowa game. Harris did miss on a few intermediate throws, but all of his deep balls were spot on.
Bolden should have caught the 1st one.
Dural had that ball hit him in the hands, even though he was double covered.
Dural also would have scored if he would have ran through the pass on the sideline when he was being covered by Robinson.
The one to Leslie seemed to be out of reach, but I'm betting good money that a guy like Landry would have dove for that ball.
I don't expect Leslie to be Landry, the point is, Harris placed the ball in a place where the WR had a chance to make a play.
The most exciting thing is, watching that game, knowing we were missing the key weapons like TQ8, Dupre, and LF7.
What I came away most impressed with. The play-calling. The constant mix of the play action passing makes me giddy.
My biggest fear was that Cameron and Mies would try to turn these guys into option QB's.
My theory is, let the "Running Backs" do the running.
QB's with scrabbling ability only make you more dangerous on passing downs. There is no need to consistently put them in harms way by calling QB options. Of course it can be used situationally, but I am not a fan of the option being a main part of our offensive game plan.
As I said in another thread, Cameron has the chance to turn us into an offensive powerhouse.
We've always had a ground game, but the mix of the play-action pass is going to be deadly when all the weapons are on the field at once.
P.S.
Harris is the better option. If he showed up in January and performed like that 4 months later, it's absolutely scary to think what this kids ceiling could be.

I agree that Harris was more confident with tossing the rock, but that's not always a good thing. Harris got to see a lot of time with a white jersey on against a purple secondary that was light on safety talent and was relying heavily on Collins and Paris to make plays. Harris was very impatient and was not going through his progressions fully and would take a shot at a covered receiver (last resort) or go into roadrunner mode against a defense which was in man coverage most of the time.
My point to you is that the individual performances of both quarterbacks in the game doesn't show where they truly are in the battle. Jennings was able to go through progressions and dump off short passes which got picked off twice by elite linebackers who made outstanding plays. A lot of the struggles for Jennings could also be attributed to the defense knowing the receiver routes and Anthony being less decisive on running (probably trying to avoid getting hurt). Harris was more prone to slinging the ball hard and high and seeing if the receiver can grab it. Against elite safeties, that won't fly. Both have a lot to learn as is evident by them missing open receivers and reading defenses.
LSU is in great shape and with CCC at the offensive helm, we shouldn't read too much into the QB battle unless someone's arm falls off. Both are competent enough to manage games. I just wanted to give Jennings a little credit.
ETA: Dural looked great out there. He caught some awesome passes mainly over guys. That catch against Paris was outstanding. The white DBs were getting a little patient towards the end of the game which was getting funny to watch with how many passes they were calling.

Agreed on your analysis.
I am a big Jennings fan. I am happy with both guys.
P. S.
We should expect Jennings to be more polished as he has been in the system for over a year (knowing progressions).
I will be happy with either.
It's just scary to think that Harris was a little more than 3 months removed from HS when he took the field.
It would be foolish to discount what AJ did vs. Arkansas in the most pressure filled situation he could have possibly entered a game under, and deliver. Also, it would not be wise to critique his first start, against Iowa as if he were a 5th year senior.
However, I must say that Harris simply looks more decisive when he drops back, and his deep ball accuracy was really something that jumped out from the spring game footage.
I will have no complaints if they decide to go with AJ.
However, if I'm going off of that Spring Game, it would be Harris, without a doubt.

Bump. The links above have been removed from YouTube. Anyone know of any other good footage?
