Going to see a game there. I'm specifically interested if there's anything right around the ballpark...aside from the hood. Any local eateries within a safe walk? Local Sox shops? TIA

Yeah I'm not worried about that. I'm just wondering if there's anything right by. I was in Busch a couple nights ago, and I'm not expecting that atmosphere, but something other than a parking would be cool.

I've always loved Pancho Pistolas on the south side. I've walked from the cell before but it's a hike. Solid margs and burritos. Also The cork and kerry after a game, and we had a good time at Turtle's a couple of weeks ago. Sox weren't in town and we were just about the only folks there but the bartender did right by us.

I was out there today. Went a couple hours and got some good food in Chinatown (one stop away) and went to the Bullpen Bar. It looked like there was a good bit of people tailgating for a couple hours before

Don't listen to the fear mongers. Bridgeport is a good neighborhood near the cell.

guide to bridgeport

Nana and Maria's are great places.

The only time I ever see the Sox is when they are in the north side. The cell, where it is at, the team that plays in it, and what all three of those stand for disgusts me. Thug culture everywhere.

I don't know nothin', but I remember getting a handful of brats from Kathy De's close by and I loved them. I don't know what the locals think of that place, but it was good to me.

I would put it above the cubs personally. Wrigley is great and a must visit, but US Cellular has more die hard fans. You also don't see tailgating at Wrigley (although there are tons of bars). And you won't get shot. It's not in the best area, but the projects that made it bad were demolished a few years back.

I believe Lao Hunan was the place I went for dinner before the game. Incredible twice cooked duck

For baseball it is a better place.
As a tourist trap, Wrigley has it beat.

There is an awesome Sox shop a block or two past the stadium.

ETA: Grandstand Sports, I think.

Nope, and the tailgating there for a weekend game is better than most non-SEC football atmospheres.
