Only person that I know who does it is my mother in law.
She keeps that house at 65°, and it keeps it seems.

Get one of these and it should be good for at least 3 or 4 days.

I like it out of the fridge because it's easier to spread and tastes better.

That's one hell of an electricity bill.

Real butter, yes. Tub margarine in the fridge.

My uncle has one of these, but I refuse to eat butter out of it. Leaving butter on the counter is another hold over from Europe like having room temperature beer. It does not translate to America long less South Louisiana.

Grandparents have a butter dish they leave on the table at all times.

I don't do it because I really don't use butter that often. Not even sure I have any in the fridge.

If I'm going to be using it fairly soon, I'll leave it out.

Otherwise, I put it in the fridge.

Holdover from Europe? What the hell does that mean?

I'm in my fifties. At least one stick of butter has been in a small bowl and on whatever counter I've had in all those years. Only time it is not is when I travel. Soft butter on a fresh warm piece of French bread is one of life's pleasures and gods special grace.

I leave it out for up to 4/5 days and it's fine. Nothing more annoying than trying to spread cold butter on a piece of bread.

Fresh eggs keep fine at room temp also if you're going to eat them in a reasonable amount of time.
