Until one seperates himself from the other?

It's certainly conceivable that fall drills don't separate Harris/Jennings enough to establish a clear #1 guy. Should that happen, anybody have a problem playing both until that separation occurs, regardless of how long that may take. 3 games into the season, 5 games, 7 games, hell all year if necessary?

Both have similar styles of play, so the gameplanning could remain consistent.

I don't think the advantages of naming one guy outweigh the option of simply using both until that separation does occur.

Pro - Miles and Cam will put best player on field

Con - Rantards will want backup to start

I would say it messes up the offensive rhythm, I never played offense though so it's tough for me to know.

It prevents one qb from fully getting into his rhythm.

I'm still pulling for Craig Nall.

Yep, just noticed I forgot to list the possible Con's and that's one of them.

With both guy's being so young, it's important to get one as much experience as possible before the heavyweight's start showing up on the schedule. And I'm not saying Wisky isn't a heavyweight, but after that game we have some time while playing the cupcake part of our schedule to maybe get one of the guy's as much PT as possible, if any separation occurs.

I feel like Jennings will get the start against Wisconsin due to edge in experience, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Harris in there for a few series. We can use the Sam Houston and ULM games to build Harris' experience and get him ready for SEC play. Hopefully we have a clear focus on where we're going at QB by the time we play Mississippi State.

If you have two qb's, you don't have one.

Honestly, I'm all about winning now, but we are so young and the future is bright, I don't have a problem with figuring things out this year to find the best option for the future. I'm sure I will get slammed for that.

I see no advantage to playing both QBs, all you would be doing is taking a chance of getting your back-up hurt. Having only two QBs on scholarship, I wouldn't take that chance. I know they have Jared Foster coming in but that doesn't even seem like an option right now. I still wonder about Bergeron possibly earning a scholarship.

It's a pretty scary thought that these two are the only available scholarship QB's. But I'm not sure playing one or both is better in the chances of getting injured.

I guess should the worst possible case happen, both get hurt, we could use LF in the pistol or something but that or Foster would be a definite last resort.

this x100. but i am still for letting both see PT until one separates them self from the other

LSU has an actual QB in Bergeron, He could've gone somewhere else on scholarship but chose to walk-on here. We don't hear much about him. I just wonder what the deal is with him.

If you do play both, conversely, you reduce the risk of injuring the starter, since he would be out there for fewer plays. The whole point of playing both, at least to start, is getting both of them game experience. Jennings has been here a year more than Harris, but sat behind Mettenberger most of last year until the Arkansas game.

Really though, a lot of teams would be in trouble if it came down to using the third string QB. Nightmare scenario, hopefully it doesn't happen.

Yeah, I think he has been pretty clear that BH is the guy some people just haven't been listening.

Both of these guys are going to have to play big if we want to get where we want to go this season. It's just so hard to keep a qb healthy for the entire season. But I've always been against a 2 qb system. It could help if both really struggle though. It'd allow one to sit out a couple series and learn from the sideline. But if one is clearly better you stick with him.

Pros---- it will keep TDs busy

Cons---- helps the OL to have one persons cadence

play them both a fair amount for the first 5 games. By Auburn, one should have established himself well enough. That's if it is too close to call. It's what Michigan State did last year up until Notre Dame.
