Let us assume the run off will happen. There are several rules for this situation:

a. If you are way ahead in the polls, don't debate. I don't think either will be way ahead in the polls after the primary.

b. If you suck at debate, don't debate. I have no idea how good they are. Never heard them in a debate.

What do the distinguished members of the board think will happen?

I remember seeing Mary debate Suzie Haik Terrell.

It was the most horribly shrill thing I've ever witnessed in politics -- I'm talking from both sides.

You don't know that. This is something called a hypothetical. If Mary was a dead solid lock to win the primary then she would be polling at least 50. She is not. Every national political pundit on Senate races calls this a toss up. But you know better because.............??????

Here is an interesting scenario that could happen.
After the Nov elections the Dems hold 49 senate seats and the GOP has 50. The ONLY Senate election following that is La. If Mary wins the Dems control the Senate for 2 years (Biden as VP breaking ties).

If Mary loses, the GOP takes control of the Senate. In that event, all kinds of money are coming from the Dem party to La. Eric Holder will send out his minions to monitor the polling stations to make sure fraud is allowed.

BUT... if Cassidy challenges her to a debate and she backs out he runs ads from here to tomorrow backed by GOP money calling her a pussy.

i don't mind Cassidy much but just from seeing him on TV I'm not sure how strong he would be in a debate setting

Well, he certainly would have the visual advantage of not being 5-1, like Mary. Should would probably demand a hidden step stool behind the podium.

given that she is a female i don't think that would hurt her the way it would a male.
