Going to Navarre in a few weeks and was looking for suggestions on diving. It'll be my first time diving in the ocean and wondered if any have had good or bad experiences with certain dive shops

Really? I was told they take you out far enough you get good visibility.

Navarre Beach has very cloudy water. Now can't say what it looks like past the shore.

I've been diving there, but over 30 years ago. I vaguely remember a sunken barge we dived.
tldr; I have no useful knowledge to help the OP.

Not sure about scuba diving, but I love Navarre Beach.

Let me clarify. I have no problem driving to Pensecola or Destin if it will increase my experience. Just looking for who to avoid or who I should give my money to

Took my first open water dive at Navarre....
Went out about a mile and half, 90 feet to the bottom. Water was clear that day.....
That said, it can very murky in a hurry, depending on the weather and winds.

I was just down there a month ago and the water was pretty clear when the seaweed was not coming in.

I guess it all depends if there are any storms out in the gulf stirring up things.
Best seashells on the beach are in Navarre! Unbelievable, huge shells!

Scuba Tech in Destin or Dive Locker in Panama. However, please let them know this is your first gulf dive. The gulf can be tricky. I ended up doing a rescue at 80' this summer of a diver who was not experienced enough to handle the conditions.

Thanks. I'm certified a rescue diver and public safety diver but that's all lakes and rivers. I know the gulf will be a different animal

Dive Vortex Springs unless you are dead set on diving in the Gulf.

Viking Diving
3009 Barrancas Ave, Pensacola, FL 32507

My family use them every time we go out of Pensacola. I prefer Pensacola over Panama City. Quicker getting to dive sites meaning quicker trip back in. Visibility is good as well. Pensacola also has shore diving right next to the fort that you can check your weights at if you have never been in salt water, just watch the tides. parking to water is only about 50 yards as opposed to forever and a day in Panama City.

What does this mean?
BTW, Navarre Beach water has been clear as crystal all week. This vacation has been amazing. Emerald Coast indeed!
