How do we see them doing this year? Is Vereen a borderline RB2 in PPR? This is the coveted "contract year" for Ridley though.

I don't want either, but I'd put Vereen over Ridley.

Ridley will have a stick up his arse this season and do pretty well. Vereen is a great play for PPR. Goalline TDs will be Ridley until someone else proves otherwise.

I'm ok with taking Ridley as a RB2 if you have a solid QB,RB and WR1.

Vereen will probably again be a flex play but will definitely get you 15+ points on some weeks

But can I bank on Vereen being my #2 every week or is he a fringe flex play?

Borderline? I think he's a very serviceable RB2, in PPR that is. IF healthy I can easily see him into the 80-90 catch range. Possibly breaking 100 if everything goes right for him this year. This is a a guy who only played 8 games last year and almost had the same number of offensive snaps as Ridley. Not to mention Blount is gone so his snaps gotta go somewhere. I'm pretty high on Vereen this year in PPR leagues tho, so I guess take my opinion with a grain of salt. I've been getting him in mocks in the 5-6 round range as my flex, which i think is pretty good IMO.

Ridley is one fumble away from being in the doghouse again.

I get that, but they have no one else.

they let Blount walk:

2013 playoffs
Blount 29 rushes 179 yards 4 tds 5.9 avg
Ridley 19 rushes 69 yards 2 tds 3.6 avg
Vareen 9 rushes 51 yards 0 tds 5.7 avg

Bolden is supposedly not a favorite to make the team, and all they got else really is James White(197 lbs 4.57 speed)

I think they may bring in Michael Bush or something...they seem ill prepared for the season with nothing at RB

Vareen is a keeper option for me in round 6. Do i keep him or Stafford in the 5?

Well neither of those is really a great value. That's about where each's ADP is at right now. With that said, without knowing anything about your situation or league, I'd keep Vereen. Spend the 5th on a WR/RB and get your QB a little later. You can get a Romo, Rivers, Luck or possibly Brady in the 7th or later.

I think a lot of that has to do with Ridley fumble problems. If Ridley isn't fumbling, does Vereen get them touches?

First off, that's a big if, with Ridley not fumbling. Secondly, yes, I do think even if Ridley keeps his fumbling problems at bay Vereen will see significant time. At this point these are the only two backs worth their salt on the Patriots roster. Vereen is VERY valuable in the passing game. The Pats lined him out wide just as much as they did in the backfield; he's not a RB, he's an offensive weapon. Belichick realizes the player he has and obviously knows how to use him, otherwise Vereen doesn't catch almost 50 balls in 8 regular season games last year.

Like I said, if you're in a PPR league, Vereen is definitely the pick over Ridley. And I feel very comfortable having him as my RB2 and possible flex if you can swing that.

Vereen is a great play in PPR as a #2 or Flex. His value is that of Sproles several seasons ago and will consistently put up points week to week.

In most mocks I'm taking WR/WR and ending up with my starting RB's of usually TRICH, Jennings or Vereen

First off, Ridley wasn't a fumbling machine last season. He fumbled the ball 3 times rushing, 1 after a catch.. They just happened to be in critical moments. I'm not worried about Ridley losing snaps this season.

Considering Spiller, Morris, R.Bush, Mendenhall, Charles, Tate, Gore, J Bell, AP, Lynch, Blount and A Brown all had the same amount or more fumbles rushing as Ridley.

His fumbles come at critical moments that's why he's tagged as a guy who fumbles. Vereen will get snaps and be in the slot as well this season. If I want rushing TDs I'm taking Ridley.

ANy reason to believe the fumbling prob has been addressed? IF not he is late round pick IMO. Maybe a handcuff to Vareen,

Ridley is very boom or bust.

Vereens potential is off the charts but James White could steal some snaps away from him this season (white would be a big waiver claim if Vereen gets hurt again)

Just because all those RBs had as many fumbles doesn't take away from the fact that it's still a lot. That's like saying it's ok to smoke cigarettes because a good portion of people do it. Still doesn't mean they aren't as unhealthy. And considering who his coach is, that number is more detrimental for him than others. Plus he's also not the talent that about 7 of those RBs are, so he's not gonna be forgiven as easily.

But that's neither here nor there. Yes I do agree with you, Ridley will more than likely have more rushing TDs on the season. But for fantasy purposes, especially PPR leagues, Vereen is unquestionably the back to own in New England.
