Or does he have to stay the whole 3 years?

I think the rule is if he turns 21 in the next two years or before the mlb draft in two years he would be eligible. If not, then he has to stay the 3rd year.

not sure but i believe it depends on his age. if he turns 21 within 45 days of the draft he can leave in whatever year his 21st birthday falls in. maybe someone with more knowledge about this can give you a better answer.

Assuming he comes to LSU and doesn't go JUCO (I'm not predicting that he will go JUCO, just giving the most accurate answer according to the rules), then he'll have to play 3 years.

Players at 4 year colleges have to either finish their junior year or be 21 years old before they're eligible for the draft again. Marshall is 18 now, so he won't be old enough to leave after just two years.

Left-handed pitcher Mac Marshall did not sign a contract with the Houston Astros before the 4 p.m. deadline for MLB Draft picks to ink contracts. As a result, the Tigers will have the former Team USA pitcher out of Parkview High School in Lilburn, Georgia for the next three seasons.

Deichmann and Bain will be the only two draft eligible sophomores from this class.
