Bunch of filler coach speak, really. But it's exposure for the program, so it works for me.

That's what I figured. It's always nice to see lsu basketball get some national attention though

CJJ seems to go out of his way to be as bland as possible in interviews, which has kinda surprised me because his personality IRL if much better than he presents.

Yeah, what is the deal? I've heard about all this personality (and I believe it), but he comes off as boring in interviews and even comes off as less than fired up when coaching during games. And this is following the most boring coach we've ever had here...

I have an extended family member that is very good friends with Johnny. I can tell you for a fact that he has much more personality than he reveals when officially representing us as our head coach.

So IMHO it must be calculated for reasons only Johnny knows. Personally, I would think it would be better to let it show more....but it doesn't seem to be hurting him in recruiting.

Yeah, he must be showing it more during recruiting because he's doing good there. Personally, I'd just like to see more out of him on the court because he just seems real passive on the bench. I don't think that's working that well. He can be as quiet as he wants to be in interviews though if the team starts getting more Ws.

I think that's valid. I could not help but wonder why some of our players kept making some of the same fundamental/correctable mistakes over and over last year.

But to take it further, I'd like to see his personality more in trying to get fans more engaged.

We are one of the few schools in the country where baseball is more popular than hoops and while better talent will certainly help there's alot to overcome in what we lost in the passion of our fan base for hoops. The few quality winning teams we had still struggled to get attention.

I realize he's a very different person that Dale, and I'm mostly just fine with that. But it wouldn't hurt to channel a little Daddy Dale in the promoting department.
