I gave it a go on Netflix Instant recently and was pleasantly surprised with it. I don't really like the cooking reality shows that are on currently (Chopped, Kitchen Nightmares, John Tafford shows, etc.). But this one was a little different, or at least different from anything I have seen.

It's basically set up like a single elimination tournament. You have 16 total restaurants; 2 teams each from a certain type of food (2 Spanish, 2 Thai, 2 French, and so on). Basically, each episode is the two like two restaurants "head-to-head." They are put to three tests: service for 30 guests all at one time, hidden diners, and cooking a meal in Ramsay's restaurant. He then picks one to move on to the next round at the end of each episode.

I've seen bits and pieces of his kitchen nightmare show from the US. It's really not like that at all, which is good.

Anyway, figured I'd let everyone know about it and see if anyone has seen it.

I love Kitchen Nightmare's, by the way.

I've got a serious mancrush on Ramsay.

I've known three or four people who have gone to Ramsey's restaurants or have hired him to cater an event and they were completely underwhelmed by the quality of his food and the creativity.

I haven't been to any of them myself.

I've been to four, two in the US, two in London, and all of them were really high quality experiences. The cooking is top notch, and the over all experience is very good. That said, it's not unreasonable or unusual for a good restaurant to have a bad night, or go through a rough patch. Ramsay is always going on about "standards" and if you go to one of his restaurants, you'll see that he takes that shite seriously.

Kitchen Nightmares is still the best (the U.K. days) but this show is definitely a good one. Ramsay is the man. He's like a Chef/Psychologist.

His level of perfection and competition is amazing. No doubt would have excelled in any profession he chose.

The USA version will be on BRAVO and while Ramsay is Executive producer. Tom Colicchio is going to be the host.
