what is the Liga MX reasoning for splitting the seasons when they have 18 teams?
why not 34 games single season?

Well, that's what most of Latin America (and the NASL) does

I Googled to find an answer for why, because I didn't know. Found this on Yahoo! Answers:

The Apertura and Clausura format can be seen as a means to fill in the gaps caused by the inherent lack of elimination cup competitions in most Latin American nations.

Liga MX is always fun to watch. Look out for the new boys in the league, Universidad de Guadalajara. (I don't know what their relationship with the university is.)

They will probably get crushed on a weekly basis, but they have a cool crest.

It was done due to the financial problems teams at the bottom of the table were having due to poor attendance. The FMF determined that moving to the two season format like the rest of Latin America would fix that.

If I were to follow Liga MX, Xolos would probably be the team I follow.

Lost 1-0, but we'll bounce back.

Garza and Corona started. Amando Moreno made the bench. 18 yo FW from New Jersey who came up through the red bull academy.

America were the better side tonight, but man Xolos have to feel hard done after playing so hard on the road.
