Do you think we get the ball to the TE position more this season?

Our TE's combined 12 catches for 211 yards and zero TDs. That's pretty anemic.

What's wrong with our TE position? Is it lack of talent? Lack of want for offensive production at the TE position?

My opinion is such that Cam Cameron is a good enough coach to know what is working and what it not, when to throw to the TE and when not to. I do not think he discriminates, if its open he will exploit it.

The main problem last year is you had OBJ and Jarvis running free and making ridiculous catches most games. There was never really a need for Mett to look past those 2. Things will be much different this year.

Maybe the fact that Odell and Jarvis were so damn good they were simply easier to get the ball to on passing downs.

I think you're right.

There's probably really no concerns at the TE position. Now that you mention it it makes sense that their production was down simply due the limited number of touches that are available on offense with OBJ, Jarvis and Hill taking the majority of those touches.

They targeted the TE a lot more during the spring game. IMO, Cam will move the QBs a lot more this year. Bootlegs and waggles will allow the TE to become more of an option in the passing game. Plus according to reports, DeSean Smith has finally figured it out and will be a force.

Realistically how many touches should a TE get per game. You want the ball in the hands of your best athletes. If your TE is taking those touches away what kind of production are you getting. With that said, if LSU would use them it could open up the field for even more big plays. Are the TE's consistent enough for LSU to utilize them more or are you wasting plays trying to get them involved

"Finally figured it out" is a little bit harsh. The kid is a 19 year old true Sophomore. It is tough to find a guy at LSU recently who had a big impact on offense as a true freshman.

Same type question as "will Russell shepherd throw a pass in this game", and you know how that went over don't you.

desean smith will be a pretty big factor into this offense...not just because he's gotten better, but the fact that tight ends are a young qbs best friend...that and a running game

Cam Cameron made a big statement his freshman season. The first pass to the endzone on the entire season was a play to Desean Smith. So I'm sure he has confidence in him.

I pray that we use him. Gordon is pretty much a 3rd tackle.

But I agree with the theory that our hopes or often non-comparable to the reality of our teams history.

It's like hoping the Saints don't hurt themselves by being overly pass happy. It's hard to change what you do, when you are successful at it. Saints and Passing, LsU and their ground game. Which they both do to the point of predictability, which leads to ineffective in the most crucial circumstances.

Hopefully Cameron realizes that Smith is an NFL talent that is just waiting to be utilized.

P.S.
History is written everyday, lets just hope Cameron is ready to do some rewriting :-)

It wasn't meant in a negative way. What they were trying to say is DeSean now understands the ins and outs of the position, the blocking, the route running, etc. They weren't saying that he was a disappointment. It's just that he now understands the position.

Isn't our tight end 285? I don't know if that is your prototypical catching te
