I mean its win Win for the school and the individual. The kid gets to prove himself that hes draft worthy the following year. The school gets that player back with a chip on his shoulder and it makes the team better. I dont think the agent should get anything until the kid is drafted that way if he says the kid is a first rounder and he goes undrafted then he gets nothing. These undrafted free agents have a very high chance of not making it in the NFl and no longer have a scholarship when they are cut. I mean i wouldnt mind having anthony johnson back another year.I wonder why this hasn't been looked at harder.

Because the NCAA hates double-negatives, which reflect poorly on member institutions.

Hasn't?

If they don't get drafted they made a bad decision to leave school.

I've thought of this myself...NCAA should consider this as a rule change instead of pay-to-play?

These are usually 20 to 21 year old kids listening to friends and agents giving bad advice. shouldnt they get a second chance?

My guess is... because you'd see every junior with even a chance to get drafted declaring and getting mixed up with agents, which would be too difficult to oversee.

A lot of them sign as UDFA and still have a chance to make it in the NFL. It isn't like there are a ton of juniors out there that would go from being undrafted to being a top pick after their senior year. You probably have just as good of odds of making it as an UDFA as a 6-7 round draft pick anyway.

It could have to do with numbers. When they declare for the draft, the coaches recruit to fill their spot. They only have so many scholarships and the draft is after recruiting is over. Unless they give a waiver for those players to return on scholarship, someone will be affected.

Every junior & 3rd year sophomore would declare for the draft.

I think this is a big part of it. They could let them do it if they don't hire/have contact with an agent. Then again, you've got the problem of oversight.

There are a lot of problems with this, mainly dealing with recruiting. Hypothetically, every junior or RS sophomore could declare leaving his school in limbo as to how many spots they have to fill on their roster. What happens when the guys that declare return to school? Does an incoming signee lose his scholarship? Is that returning player guaranteed his roster spot if he chooses to return?

I think in theory this would be an interesting rule change, but overall I think it's opening up a Pandora's box full of issues that would drastically affect most major programs.

This. Signing with an agent makes you lose your amateur status.

If you allowed them to comeback, it would kind of like how the MLB draft works with kids out of high school, it would be kind of hectic

How much time does a kid entering the draft spend in class the spring semester? They may not be academically eligible.

That works absolutely frick over the college game. Then all of our redshirt sophomores on up would enter the draft. The NFL would probably have to expand to like 20 rounds
