Make no mistake about it, DeRidder’s Kevin Slaydon was definitely feeling the heat to catch at least a 10-pound bass on Toledo Bend.
His two hometown fishing buddies, Greg Crain and Joey Storozyszn, had already scored on double-digit Toledo Bend lunkers, and Slaydon definitely wanted to join the club.

I follow the share a lunker program on facebook and saw that. I thought, I just read that the other day. Turned out, it was two different guys from DeRidder.
To Bourg, Toledo has been great ever since it came back from being way down (water level) about 3 or 4 years ago. It's back to the good old days for sure.

People bass fish at 2:30 in the morning?

I was thinking the same thing. Lol

Beats the hell out of bass fishing at 2:30 in the afternoon! In the summertime night fishing is the way to go. Daylight, dark, and at night are the only times I'll fish this time of year. It's too damn hot in the middle of the day.

It becomes popular in the summer because the water is cooler and the fish tend to be more active during that time. It is also easier on the fisherman so you don't sweat your balls off all day. Tactics are similar to day time fishing, but I tend to always hear of success coming from big ole 8-10" worms in dark colors (blue, purple, black and red) over humps and other bass feeding areas.

topwater
throw a black worm, no weight, slow steady retrieve. All of my bass over 8lbs but one, have come on this method.

People from around the "bend" do. In the spring, they spotlight nanny's on the nest and hit them in the head with creature bates for hours, and sometimes days until they bite.

shite yeah.
I prefer a black spinner bait and a black crawfish with red glitter and claws. As others have said, hold on tight. They'll knock the shite out of it and you can't see your line move so it's mostly by feel.
It's not hot, and way less pressure. It's a great time to fish during the summer.
