Let's just all take a moment to bask in the success we had in this game and look onward to what will be a nasty defense full of Bengal Speed

Auburn is lucky that they even scored 21. With a much improved secondary, LSU's defense should be able to prevent the DBQB from making big plays.

I disagree. They started off slow and fell way behind early but by the second half they had our defense figured out. They just ran out of time. If the game had been five quarters I think they would have won.

If the game was 3 quarters we wouldn't be having this argument. We won, they had several games that could have gone either way, LSU wasn't one of those.

We got ahead and let up but still kept it out of reach for them. We still won. We were the only team to do it during the season too.

Auburn could've have easily lost 4 games last season. Don't misunderstand me, they improved dramatically but let's be honest now.

They had things go their way. The fortuitous bounce in the UGA game, Saban whining for that extra second to be put back on the clock in the Iron Bowl, just a couple examples.

Both teams played in the rain and we played better. I will say I'm glad Tre Mason is gone. That guy is really good. He got on my nerves.

Contain Marshall and you've won half the battle right there. And Marshall is decent but he's no Manziel, as far as scrambling goes.

We let up because we put true freshmen all over the field. We aren't as inexperienced as people think. All the defensive guys that leave in 3 years play early and usually start to make a name in year 2. Just like Reid, mingo, Peterson, mathieu, the list goes on.

I know that. I wasn't bashing. I'll be the last one to do that.

I was just pointing out that with freshmen we got up big, let up yet still kept it out of reach.

Those same freshmen (now sophomores) now have a year of playing time under their belts.

I don't think we're inexperienced at all.

Go watch their scoring drives...most had one big pass play...deep throw to whoever Mills was guarding and let's be honest, who didn't use and abuse him last year? Other than that all they did was chip away for a few yards at a time on the ground. Our speed didn't let them just run away from people like they did the rest of the season.

On the flip side, our offense looked great that night. Passes to Landry and Beckham everywhere as usual, Hill went beast mode that night, and we even used a tight end for about a 30 yard gain.

I think we win that game stiff dew or not.

If we would have played them later in the year, it may have been a different story. I'm glad we got to play them early though.

I just said I wasn't bashing them.

I have that game. We looked great. That's what I'm trying to say.

Side note: LSU should really trademark "Bengal Speed"

LSU's defense got better as the season went on. I swear yall don't give LSU defense enough credit and too worried about all these top offenses.. LSU shut down Manziel twice. LSU shut down Oregon. LSU has shut down Auburn the past few seasons.. although Tre Mason did do work.. he was such a beast last season.. LSU still would have proven to be the same defensive challenge for Auburn.. regardless when it was played. Deal with it.. especially considering LSU knows how to take away a quarterback like Nick Marshall completely..

I wasn't trying to bash the defense? I know our defense has been really good against high powered offenses. I was just simply stating that I'm glad we played Auburn early because their offense got better later in the year. I never said we would lose to them, just that it would have been a tougher match up later in the year.

D.J. should be able to diagnose and pounce on swing passes like that after a year of playing

true, also if the game had been played in the Bahamas they likely would have won as well, or if LSU would have been forced to play the second half wearing work boots...
