Which joints are on yours?

Just recently ate at Blacks and Kreuze's (pronounced Krites) and sampled Smitty's in Lockhart.

On my short lost are City Market in Luling, some in Austin, and Louie Mueller's in Taylor.

Love some TX BBQ!

Cozy Corner and Interstate in Memphis, John Mueller in Austin

We're going to Austin in a couple months. Should we wait the hours for Franklin, like on a Tuesday lunch, or should we just do something like La Barbeque, and call it a win?

Franklin was worth it to me, but we were there on a Saturday and it was a bachelor party, so I didn't mind spending five hours or whatever getting drunk and meeting strangers in line

What's the best in memphis? I was reading reviews online and didn't see any places that seem to be can't-miss.

For me, it's
Franklin
The Joint
Nameless memphis style BBQ
All places in Lockhart minus Kreuz
Nameless s. Carolina cue

Phil's BBQ in San Diego. A good friend from work is from Kansas City and he puts Phil's up against anything back there.

Best BBQ in the state just opened a few months ago. NOLA Smokehouse. Go ASAP and get the Burnt end brisket. It Blows every other BBQ place around here out by miles. On Jackson AVE. New Orleans.

I'm not bragging or being a dick. However, I make the best BBQ I've ever had. And I've had the ones that are famous. It's all about meat quality, cook times, and freshness. Period....

You need to add Coopers in Llano to that short lists as well...

City Market in Luling I find better than the joints in Lockhart

BBQ Shop
Central
Cozy Corner

really in any order - my favorite is BBQ Shop. But Central may be the best all around joint - everything there is great. The BBQ shop pulled pork is just so so good. Central's ribs are probably best in the city. Cozy Corner is really good too - not as good as these other two IMHO - but, it has a cult following and is a complete dive in the hood (which is why lots of folks love it).

Since you are in Katy, you should try Killen's in Pearland. I think its up there with Franklin's and the like. Most bbq places I go, I don't really care for the sauces, but the one's at Killen's are pretty good.

They are comparable to each other. La Barbeque has a keg with free beer for those in line sweating it out (not sure if everyday). Also, John Mueller meat co is on par.

FYI: La Barbeque is moving to a new food truck park location on Ceasar Chavez just east of 35 in August. Will have an additional pit and maybe quicker service. I have eaten at a Korean truck and the fish truck in that park. The Korean is really good. The fish truck was decent but could cut back on the salt.
