I'm just getting into watches and I plan on saving up and buying my next one on my 30th birthday in a few years. I really want something where I can see the movement from the face and see the inner workings of the watch. I definitely want something with a nice leather band that's more dressy, considering I already have a hefty metal watch that I can wear daily.

Any recommendations? Navy? Broke?

My daily wear, Ananta GMT... The styling isn't for everyone but I do get lots of watch enthusiasts asking to check it out. Seiko should be giving me royalties as I've sold a few for them in the last year.

That's a beautiful watch, brother. Is it 45/46mm?That would be my only concern. I'm 6' and near 200lbs but for some odd reason don't have the biggest of wrists and forearms. Anything over 42 looks a little gaudy on me.

I can look around for you. Dressy with movement visible from the dial might be hard to come by (movement visible from the back of the case is much more common).

What are you looking to spend?

That's sweet. Does it have metal bands? Gotta have them because I'm outdoors all the time.

Eta: that's kinda big for me

I always like to throw Sinn out there.

Second hand reputable places.

Watchuseek.com

Timezone.com

Then....

Watchrecon.com and Chrono24.com

These last 2 are like kayak for watches. Enter a brand and/or model. And they pull from all sites. Some of the sites may be a little sketchier. Consult Broke before dropping cash. Make sure whatever seller you buy from has multiple posts in that site.

I LOVE the Audemars Piguet look with the visible movement on the face. I seriously doubt that I could ever afford one in my lifetime but maybe there's another quality manufacturer with something similar?

I'd be looking to be in the $10,000-$12,000 range and I've got a few years.

I'm 5'8" and had similar concerns. The watch is 46mm and pretty bulky so I went to try it on before buying. It fit beautifully and while it's large it's not over the top.

That actually opens things up a bit. There's a lot you can do with 12k. Especially if you find a dealer who's willing to work with you.

Glad somebody out there has this level of disposable income.

I bought a $125 fossil last week and thought I was ballin. Then I sit down in a meeting two days later and see 3 rolex's. Pretty soul crushing

I love a nice watch.

Benefits of being 31 and single I guess. There ought to be something in it for me.

That's the Watch Snob's idea of a real watch. You must read him.

I want to get a very expensive watch and take it apart. I'd love to see the guts of what is considered to be a high end watch.

I'll just live vicariously though this thread. High end guns would be my status symbol vice, but we can all dream.

He's said that he can't think of a watch between $1k and $7K that's worth a shite. A lot of it is tongue-in-cheek, but I believe he means it for the most part.

As I posted earlier, he came back and gave my Moonwatch some love because its a "piece of significance".
