She has to be the worst president in the world, right?

quote:

“As you know, I’m no soccer fan,” said President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, while standing next to Messi and Argentina manager Alejandro Sabella. “I didn’t see a single match, not even the one yesterday (on Sunday). Even so I called Alejandro (Sabella) because for me, and for 40 million Argentines, they had won the match.”

I don't see how she isn't impeached for these comments.

But she's still happy to force them to make political statements on her behalf

I'm glad they lost, and gladderer that Messi completely shanked the last shot.

This goes beyond not being a fan in Argentina... does she have an aversion to watch any game? Can't think of a reason why she wouldn't simply tune in for the finals.

yea you think if nothing else national pride would have her supporting the squad and watching the final.

that's not a bad statement. At least she is honest and still recognizes their achievement even if its a backhanded way to say it. at least she is honest.

horrible decision but at least she is honest.

Is messi known to be a primadonna or an a-hole? Comes across as very quiet and unassuming from the very little I've seen of him.

Honesty is not always the best policy.

Nope. Either the poster is ignorant or is attacking their idiotic president.

no quite the opposite for the most part. handles himself well on and off the field. generally considered very likable and respected. 1 of 2 in discussion of best current players and is much more likable than Ronaldo.

Some complain that he can't play in the big game but i think its undeserved. Not sure why the hate is really happening. other than no one likes a loser much less one that is relatively quiet in the big game

Because she doesn't like soccer. Is that not a reason?

I think every Argentine would gladly stand with that sign.

Probably, but political signs are against FIFA rules. She risked getting the Argentine FA fined/banned to score some political points.
