Watched it again yesterday and was wondering something...

Does he have a max emotional state? Like is there an upper limit to how angry he can get, which means an upper limit to his strength?

Like say someone put a nuke in his pants or something and blew off his dick. Does his pissed off level max out at some point?

i could be mistaken, but the anger controls his transformation not the limit of his strength and such - but again i could be way off. aside from the tv show and the movies, i was never a hulk fan in the comics

Nope.

In theory Hulk has no limit. Yes, the angrier he gets the stronger he gets.

Not sure how he is ever defeated because he gets madder and madder as he fights an opponent who has him at a stalemate. The more frustrated and angry he gets the stronger he gets.

I seem to recall he broke Wolverine in half thus breaking admantium.

Thats what I thought, but I was just wondering if it could max out where he couldn't get any more pissed. Used the dick blown off hypothetical as I figure that should about do it.

One of his most used tag lines is "Madder Hulk gets, stronger Hulk gets" so I'm pretty sure the anger level has a correlation to his strength.

And I always looked at it as there was no real limit. But the maximum level of anger is kind of a nebulous concept so who knows.

I like how he has ZERO control whatsoever, including trying to kill everyone and everything around him early in the movie, but can take orders, and only goes after the bad guys at the end of the flick. The Avengers is awesome

But Superman killed Zod, and civilians got hurt in MoS. MoS sucks.

Superman could easily kill Banner but that would go against his core belief since Banner isn't evil.

It would depend on if Superman could hold Hulk long enough to get him into space until Hulk passed out from lack of Oxygen.

WHOOPS I am WRONG.

Hulk has survived long term space.

Tony Stark postulated that Hulk cells mutate to survive any threat.

Superman while super strong isn't infinitely strong thus in theory Hulk could reach a level of strength to kill Superman.

By the way, Hulk has survived a nuclear detonation so not sure how you actually do any real lasting damage to him other than wait for Banner and then nuke him.

Even then, the cells might still be able to react in time to heal the damage in the second it takes to turn him to ash.

Eh, they did a bad job of communicating it, but it's quite normal for the character. Banner isn't ALWAYS in control, it depends on what's going on around him. But he CAN be in control. The movie did both.

And do you forget the ROD? The entire inverted shot of the reflection in the Rod was a visual clue to tell you that the rod was taking control of everyone in the room (while also a nod to LOTR), including Banner. Hulk just needs to be set off in the wrong way and Banner is out, Hulk has complete control.

Many have speculated it's the Mind Control Infinity Gem, which would make sense, but that's nerd info only clearly that's why they needed to communicate it better. But in terms of story the shift in Hulk control is canon.

There have also been plenty of times in the strip when Hulk had total control of his rage and stayed the Hulk.

Also been times when Banner had total control as the Hulk without changing to Banner.

Also been plenty of times the Hulk was 100% insane and had no control and he would punch unicorns and kick puppy dogs.

Exactly. This isn't some gotcha moment, it's clearly what makes the Hulk the Hulk and Banner Banner, the interaction between the two is complex and dangerous.

I think what people fail to connect with Hulk and Banner is that the Hulk personality has nothing to do with Banner. They aren't the same being, they just use the same body (and yes they HAVE been at peace with each other, but that's rare). This is why Banner says "the other guy" at least three times in the Avengers. They are separate. Hulk is anger personified.
