Buying jewelry (pearls) online

Figured the audience on this board might be better equipped to help me out.
Want to get a pair of pearl studs for the Mrs. and have been looking online. Have been looking at Freshwater and Akoya pearls prob around the 7-8mm size. I have checked Blue Nile, is there anyone else that would be recommended? I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for, but never turn down a good deal.
I even stumbled across a Pearl jewelry message board (they do exist) in my research and the banter and hard feelings there would make the Tiger Rant look like the Money Board.

Bought necklace at Christmas for my wife - great deal and great quality. Learned of this site, Pure Pearls from a Pearl Message board, probably the same one you mentioned based on their passion for pearls!

Mikimoto is the gold standard, not sure if you can get them as a deal though
