Why do people think it is impossible to have a good offense with a freshmen QB?

It'a not like it's never been done before. We're obviously going to have a good run game to achieve balance and set up play action .

Not by any means saying that the offense will be or should be great. Just think its ignorant to say or assume our passing game/offense will be poor or below average.

Do you even History, bro?

It's FAR more likely that the offense will struggle with a FR QB, but hey, it's possible...

With the way we will be running the ball, we will be facing a lot of stacked boxes. This will give our wr some 1 on 1 opportunities to make plays. If we can get mediocre qb play we can win 10-11 games.

Everything is relative.

Are you SURE we are going to have a running game as good as last year? I'm not.

So, if the running game is equal or worse, and the QB play is significantly inferior, it's reasonable to expect the offense as a whole to underperform...relative to last year. Add in the youth at WR and it just compounds the issue.

I'm expecting the offense to take a step back. If we are above average in the SEC offensively, people should be praising Cam Cameron.

Do you?

Redshirt freshman Manziel was ok.

Redshirt freshman Winston did allright.

Those were just in the last 2 years...

VERY rare. Jameis/Fla State is the exception, not the norm.

There is a reason guys like this get so much publicity, what they did was rare and difficult to do

It's rare. But most who do it have veteran receivers. We don't.

Marcus Mariota in 2012. Took Oregon to a 12-1 record in his first year as a starter and finished 6th nationally in QBR.

It's difficult for a freshman quarterback to win the Heisman and lead their team to a National Championship? Ya don't say?

That doesn't preclude a team that is loaded up with talent like LSU from being able to have a good offense.

Hey I hope AJ or BH turn into one of those guys, and either way, i'm looking forward to seeing how they perform.

But i think if you would go back 10 years in the SEC, most FR QBs were average at best. And average i would take.

My point exactly. It is happening more and more frequently these days as guys are getting better and are able to step into the college game and have an immediate impact. Granted a lot of them redshirted, but they had 0 playing experience.

Average would be great. LSU could be extremely successful if they get average QB play.

We may...however, consistency comes with experience. A couple of bad games will put us 2nd or even third best in the SEC west which will lead to a decent year, but nothing special.

Which still makes them freshman and guys that had no prior game experience

I do not think there is ANY question that we WILL see some stacked boxes!

A redshirt freshman has a whole year practice under his belt and I have to think that makes huge difference.

The odds are against a true freshman QB taking to the game like a fish to water.

Sure having some practice time under your belt helps. You still have no game experience. And keep in mind, Harris was here through the spring, so he did get to participate in those practices and work with the offense and Cam and take away some things to work on through the summer.

We have one of the best offense lines in the entire country and one of the best linemen in the country at LT. We have a stable of RBs as usual and seem to have some decent playmakers at WR. Having a true freshman at QB doesn't automatically preclude this team from having a good offense.
