Six people and roughly two weeks out if we have to get a reservation for Weds 7/30. On somebody elses dime and cost really isnt a consideration.

Some caveats,

Cannot require a suit/formalwear.
Sushi is out, one of the attendees wont eat it.

GO!

Gramercy Tavern.

Others will come in and drop names like Daniel or Per Se, but you arent getting in to any of those and they may be more formal than you want.

I had a fabulous meal at Scarpetta last month. Not formal, but nice. Food is out of this world good.

Also maybe check out Public. Been there a few times and it's damn solid. Unique menu that often rotates.

Stopped by for a quick App and Drink as I was walking through the city. Great place. Would have loved to order everything on the menu.

I've never been to Peter Luger, but we were told its pretty formal and that the odds of us getting a reservation only two weeks out is pretty slim.

Try Perry Street. It's one of Jean George's reataurants on the western edge of the west village. I've eaten there half a dozen times. It's very good and generally has availability; I have eaten there twice with parties of six and reservations were not a problem. The menu is pretty varied with something for everyone and it's a pretty casual place.

wiltz, what did y'all decide? An NYC visit might be in my not so immediate future with the lady and I'm semi-planning way too far in advance.

Arriving mid-morning. My friend wants to go to Katz Deli or Umami Burger for lunch. From there to Tørst for beers and dinner is looking like Del Frisco. We'll see how it all plays out.
