My thought is to have one CPU and then just have monitors in different room. CPU could control movies and other home theatre options.
Can I run the monitors wirelessly or do they all need to be connected? The house is wired with cat5 but not hdmi, will that be a problem?
Thoughts? Thanks!

Old enough to have my own home and to buy my own Mac Pro. Feel free to go all Nick Burns on me though. I'm sure feelings of superiority are strangely delightful to you.

I think you need an ENIAC to do that.

I just try to save people headaches...You sound like someone who knows just enough to get yourself in trouble and then have to pay someone to fix it..

Seems a bit like overkill for what you are trying to accomplish. You could do the same thing with few apple TVs and a mac-mini. The Mac Pros are really for high end programming, graphic design and video editing. You can run the monitor wireless if you have the apple tv connected to the TV. It will run in 1080p, if you have that TV, via airplay. Basically that is how I watch LSU games when they are "not" on ESPN, macbook pro, apple TV and link provided by Tigger Droppings! :-)

or save yourself $44 and get a Chromecast instead of Apple TV. And you can buy a $300 windows pc, install chrome browser, install chromecast extension and save yourself another $500-1000.

Surprised no one has bitched about this yet

And yes a Mac Pro is more than you need, but wants are a different story.

You could invest in a few appletv units to airplay your Mac Pro to various TVs and monitors.
