Who is Wayne Allyne Root?

Just saw he is thinking about running against Harry Reid in 2016. I know I've seen this guy pontificate on politics in various articles, but didn't this guy also used to run a tout service? I seem to remember commercials advertising his picks.

I just wish that he'd stick to sports handicapping. Most every time that I went against his picks, I'd win.

He's a libertarian, and I'd take him in a minute over Reid.

Isn't he the guy who went to Columbia while Obama was there and claims that nobody remembers him being there?
