My last ones shite out on me. I want one that has SS ball bearings so I can bring it in saltwater. I don't want to spend more then $50. Any cheap reels y'all like?

Cheap baitcasters don't last, in my experience. Especially in saltwater. Spend $50 now and every other year or spend the money up front and get something that will last. Calcutta GTB ftw.

Well, it's more than $50, but the BPS pro qualifier is a good one that isn't too expensive.

Put a little oil in em after every few outings and even the cheaper ones should last at least a little while.

H20 Mettle for that price range. I love mine, have had it for almost 2 years now with no issues.

You need to spend more than $50.

If the primary use is going to be salt water, you can use a spinning reel for 90% of that. $50 will get you a much better spinning reel than baitcast reel.

Edit: I'm a dumbass who was calling a spinning reel a spin cast.

What about the cheaper Abu Garcias? They have SS ball bearings do they hold up in saltwater?

I use spin cast almost exclusively. My one bait cast real has a cork and lead head on it for shrimp. I can cast them farther and I like the eyes on the bottom.

Why the hate?

I really hope he wasn't referring to the 2nd picture as a "spin cast" reel

this is a little odd to me as well. I thought everyone used spinning reels for fishing with corks and baitcasters for plastics/topwater. Not knocking it, whatever works for you

I got an Abu Ora inshore for 90$ at academy. It's been flawless for about a year now and I yak fish regularly. I had a mettle but the anti reverse kept going out so I upgraded. I would also look at the bps pro qualifier as previously suggested

Lol

My dad calls it a spin cast. I don't have the heart to tell him.

Odd to me too. Baitcaster for jigheads and carolina rig. Spinning for corks.
