Have a 3/4 English Mastiff, 1/4 Black mouth cur that weighs 115-120 lbs. She snuck in the trash and ate a corn cob 2 days ago. She threw up 5 pieces yesterday (which looked like the entire cob) but has been very lethargic since. She ate once today but not twice, as usual. No more throwing up. I know dogs are very resilient and just wondering if I should just let it run its course.

This if she isn't better by tomorrow.

Vomiting and a poor appetite are generally the initial signs of a foreign body in the small intestine. The dog will usually have a tense abdomen with few or no bowel movements. Commonly, the temperature is elevated, especially if the intestine has been punctured.

It needs a barium study. It could be blocked now, and needs emergency surgery.

I'll see what she is like tomorrow and if surgery is needed, then so be it. I just think from all the throwing up yesterday, she is worn out. She is an inside dog so she gets plenty of water and rest and is drinking water. Your wife is the vet, right, BRgettenenet?

She'll be alright. I have a half English/half Bull mastiff. She has eaten stuffed toys before and puked them up several days later.

all depends on how far down the pipe the object is- if it is in the intestine you are not going to vomit that up
I would take her to Sherwood forest animal hospital 24 hour clinic now if I cared about my dog-
Waiting to morning may be a gamble one I would not take
Just because someone else's dog vomited up a toy is not good advice to take chances

756, I'm not in Baton Rouge. I'm in Northeast La. Can't go to Sherwood.

There's an emergency vet clinic off of Thomas Rd. Open 24 hours.

True, but that is 30 miles away from me. She seems to be getting better. Going to let it (if there is an it) run its course.
