Staying in sunny San Diego thru Sunday for a wedding and I'll be at a hotel in the Gaslamp District. What are some good places to go eat, drink, see? Can i walk around or do I have to drive?

If its not that great what's another close by area that's worth checking out? Fwiw I'll have a rental car so distance isn't too much of a factor

If I remember correctly you are real close to the water right there as well, a lot of places within walking distance. Great area, you should have a good time.

The Martini Ranch I think is what it is called is a pretty hot spot in the gas lamp district.

Don't go to the restaurant where you cook your own steak.

You're about a mile from USS Midway. Also the Hyatt downtown has a bar at the top - the overpriced drinks are worth the view.

So jealous! But just walk around and find that daiquiri bar they have. It's a real big place with a big line of daqs to choose from. I think the name of the place is Wet Willie's.

Go to the little bar next to the Pickwick Hotel (next to the bus station). It's not too far from the Gaslamp District, and is not nearly as expensive.

If you're into baseball, Petco Park is beautiful and tickets are reasonably priced. Padres play the Mets that weekend.

Lots within walking distance. Was there for work a couple of months ago. You can walk down to the Padres stadium and catch a game. Also tons of bars/restaurants along the walk. You can walk the other way down towards the water and tour some of the ships. Pretty neat stuff. Enjoy!

Get drunk and enjoy without having to worry about the walk home unlike New Orleans.

Mission Brewery is also right near Petco. It is a cool place to grab a beer before the game.

In Gaslamp, The Tipsy Crow is an interesting bar. It is 3 bars in one: a lounge, a normal pub, and a dance club on 3 floors.

You'll probably want to rent a car to get to places like Balboa Park, beaches, etc...
