Terrorist will never sneak across the Mexican or Canadian borders into the USA.

It's much easier to fly directly into the States. I'm tired of that as an excuse to secure our borders. Terrorist would have a much more difficult time coming to the US via Canada or Mexico because they have to get into Mexico or Canada first. And those two countries have muuuuuch stricter border security than the US.

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

There is a very small terrorist threat from our border friends thanks to their strict immigration policies.

The big question is why is this a reality though?

Because the people of Canada and Mexico value their sovereignty more that we do?

I don't give a flying frick that a Terrorist would PROBABLY not enter the country that way.

It IS STILL A POSSIBILITY .

BUT the more pressing issue IMO is that we CAN NOT support the massive influx of immigrants coming into this custody ILLEGALY.

This country is a SOVERIGN NATION and should have secure borders as such.

Oh I agree. I'm just pointing out that terrorist entering the US via Canada or Mexico is a poor excuse among the numerous reasons to secure the border.

But why go though all that trouble (traveling over the US Mexican border via Guatemala) when you can fly directly into this country?

I was addressing your statement of "very strict immigration policies".

And you're assuming said terrorists would be allowed into the country. Maybe said terrorists don't want to have to go through Customs.

I agree with you that there is a much smaller chance of terrorist entering. BUT like I stated there is a chance.

And the job of the Federal Government is to protect the nation, and maintain it's sovereignty.

Ok, I understand your point now. However once the terrorist are in Mexico or Canada they probably would have a much more difficult time blending into their culture rather than ours. My only point is, as our immigration policy stands currently it's much easier for a terrorist to enter the US directly than go through all the trouble of entering the US trough Mexico or Canada.

A) Why should Mexico worry about Guatemalans illegally crossing the border?
B) Why would a terrorist sneak into Guatemala (where they would stick out like a sore thumb) to sneak into Mexico (again, sticking out), to then be in the most dangerous part of Mexico (south) to then travel a thousand miles (through Mexico) to just then reach the Texas border (like border patrol wouldn't see the diff).

How many people of Islam are there in all of South and Central America? We probably have 50 times that population right here in the US alone.

Right. That's why most of the people pouring in these days are from countries south of Mexico- Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras- it's not like they're travelling through Mexico to get here or anything.

Are drug cartels and violent Mexican gangs an acceptable alternative to terrorist groups in your opinion?

Easier to move explosives up than to fly with them. It is also much harder to track people and fiqure out how they got into the country if they sneak in, if they fly in, the FBI will know who they are and where they came from within hours...

I could definitely see terrorists using the southern border as a way to get some type of wmd into the country.

That's usually the way they come.

They get the right paperwork they could come through a secure border, too, though.

Point is they almost always come to this country completely legal.
