Once again, how much is your payoff? Are you upside down?

I have a 7 month old. We're still trying to decide if we're going to have another. My yak is good enough for now. Not that I can't afford a boat, but I'm waiting till my son is old enough before I get one.

Sell it, 8-10 years from now you may be able to afford another one. When the kids can go on the water with you.

Not knowing what they sell for new, do you feel you can get 50 for it now?

I ask as I don't know what a new pathfinder sells for, I think I might try and ride it out knowing that you may have trouble getting that money back. You won't get to use the boat like you would like but you will still have it to use when you want. Lastly you may want to check into what makes babies!

Yow! How much did you pay for it new? That'll give you an idea of how much you're upside down.

You never know, you might find someone willing to assume the note if it's a reasonable monthly note. Some people don't care about the "total" cost, just care about how much a month.

NADA has it for $54k, I know I wont get that but it is close to my payoff. I think Im gonna go ahead and let her go come October

some people dont care about the cost, just the montly note

That's what happened in this situation, we had just got together and got stupid and bought it. Im not saying we cant afford to keep it, we do ok financially. But the way im looking at it is whats the point in having this expensive arse boat and payin the note on something that I really wont use like it needs to be used for 3-4 years, if not longer. Im just thinkin, let her go now... actually save my pennies and make a smarter decision down the road with the lil ones get old enough.....

Put it for sale now with your dream price on it. Come down later in the summer. I just sold my ranger for the same reason. I didn't want to sell until September, but put it for sale for the highest I could find online. Ended up selling for more than I purchased (I didn't buy new though, had 30 hrs when I got it)

With young ones, down size to just a small boat. Shop around for something under a grand.

From a boat addict: Been there done that (5kids) Do not think another second. Sell the boat, another day will come and you can get a boat later,

This is about family not about self. Those kids will be and should be your world. Your wife should be your priority and she needs to know that.

Your main priority right now is family. Build it, work on it, focus on it and a few years down the road when the kids are bigger- the conversation will come up about a boat and time will be right to get another one.

One other piece of advice- Unless you are filthy rich don't buy a new boat- there are so many boats on the market with less than 60 hours it will blow your mind.

This thread is the reason there are so many boats with less than 60 hours. You're making good money and getting that boat is nothing. Then WHAM, that kid is costing you a grand a month and you never get to use the boat. You just have to hope you can get a fair price for it.

I'd use the hell out of it before you sell it. You probably won't get many chances for several years. I just sold mine and am already saving for my next when my little boy is 5-6 and can really enjoy the experience.

I'd do this. That way you can still get out on the water and bring the wife/kids out safely. Used ones are cheap as hell

And fun as hell. They are called party barge for a reason, it's pretty impossible not to have a good time on one.

HAHA, my wife would shoot me, like i said, she would go fishing before she would do anything else. Basically raised on the water, so if anything, itll be another fishing boat, just one that is more affordable.
