#Saints TE Jimmy Graham has officially appealed the ruling that stated he’ll be paid as a franchise-tagged TE not WR, source said.

Jimmy Graham & #Saints hope the appeal is moot with a long-term deal reached by tomorrow’s 4 pm deadline. That’s the ultimate goal.

While not surprising, is he really expecting a different result?

Maybe this is a last minute ploy to get them to come up a bit on their offer. Does he really want this to be heard?

This is what I think. Have they not changed their offer for ~9.5 mill/year?

Let's hope not. 9.5 is more than fair for a tight end. Or a wr for that matter

Has to be the case. Not appealing by today causes him to lose leverage, so why not play that card?

It's a last minute appeal. It makes me think that it was plan to put pressure for the Saints to up the offer. I don't think they really want this going to arbitrators. Even if they did win, they lose money in the long run.

Deadline is still tomorrow, right? He'd be stupid to sit out/play on the tag with an offer to be the highest paid TE.

Am I allowed to be annoyed at him, even though I get the move?

Don't know. But he loses nothing by appealing. Chances are he is using this as leverage to get the front office to up the offer. If they don't, he can sit out/play the tag or just suck it up and sign the richest deal for a TE ever.
