Gonna be there for a ball tournament this weekend.
Yes, I realize how close it is to NO, but I'd rather keep the travel more local if possible.

Is Bull's Corner still open? I haven't been to Laplace in a while.

I used to like the old Airline Motors. I know it's shut down and reopened several times over the past several years years, and I don't think I've eaten at any recent incarnation of the place (it had to have been some point in the 90s when I last did).

I don't know that I would have ever called it "can't miss" either, but it was a neat old joint. Had really good turtle soup back in the day.

La Carreta Mexican joint. It's a little better than your run of the mill messican place. It will serve it's purpose, especially if you have kids in tow

I wouldn't say there are any can't miss restaurants in LaPlace.

Do make sure that you stop in at Jacob's Andouille on Airline or Wayne Jacob's Smokehouse on West 5th for some andouille.

Middendorf's has gone downhill drastically the last few years, IMO.

Frenier Landing

Over-priced, average seafood. The view is nice though.

I would suggest Wayne Jacob's Smokehouse to eat, but I don't think the restaurant portion is open on the weekends.

Otherwise Mabile's makes a pretty good poboy.

My folks like to make it over there during their pilgrimage from the Mecca a couple of times a year. The last time they came, all of them said it was meh, at best. We never eat it unless some Southern Arkansas Yankees from Quachita Parish comes down, even though it is a mere 20 minutes away from the house.

Ate there about 6 months ago. Still tasted good to me. Portions are still a good size, and the quality seems to be the same as it's always been. Before the trip I hadn't been in several years, so i may be off.

Good thing, it's not true at all. It's as wonderful as it's ever been.

Wayne Jacobs Smokehouse...it's a meat market, smokehouse, and restaurant (using their own smokehouse stuff, obvi). LINK /
It's a simple place, not fancy. Service can be on the amateur side, but always friendly.
