I was on a flight from New Orleans to Houston recently and managed to take some pretty cool pictures with my iphone. At the time I had no clue what I was taking pictures of but after 10 minutes of searching on google earth, it was easy to figure out that it was the Atchafalaya Delta.

Nice pics. I always try and get a window seat just so that I can track exactly where I'm going.

I can successfully kill a day at work just looking at google earth.

Isn't that one of the few places that is actually creating land and marsh?

Beautiful.

When I fly out after a fishing trip with my buddies, it almost brings a tear to my eye. Always hate leaving.

I used to fly over that area regularly when I worked offshore. I probably would've taken pictures if I had an iPhone back then.

I took some of the Mississippi River delta a few years ago and they came out almost as good. Cool stuff!

That's the Wax Lake outlet . It's fed by the Calumet Cut. I flew some LA State workers over it about 20 years ago to take some photos for an aerial survey. They had pics from just a couple years earlier and it was clearly larger marsh. Must be a shite ton of silt flowing through there.
