Should I try to talk them out of it? They are devout Christians and have been looking forward to this trip for a year now. They tell me that theses trips never have anything bad happen and they will be with a very large group. I dont want to tell them to take off their Jesus glasses and rethink this decision but I feel like I need to maybe offer rescheduling. If they back out now they will lose 1k deposit.

why would you want to talk them out of it? Are you saying your parents are completely ignorant. Israel is the last free country on the face of the planet, and everybody has to die sometimes, even spoiled pop culture lovin fools.

Might be an educational and life-altering experience for them RT.

I would think that the entities liable and responsible for their safety will err on the side of caution. I'd probably go if I had the time.

Good luck. God speed.

Besides, with where we are headed over here, we'll look like Israel (police state) within a few years anyway.

Wtf? No they're not ignorant and they're not that wealthy so I know the 1k deposit is a huge factor for them go despite all the shite going on. I'll gladly give them the 1k and let them reschedule for another time. Would you go there right now? I sure as frick wouldn't.

this world is a dangerous place, not just israel. I know they're aren't ignorant of what is going on, that's the point, they can decide for themselves.

I understand their desire and hope to make the trip myself one day. I don't know if there is ever a really good time to go if you are looking for a 100% peaceful time. I suspect the current situation will be over one way or the other by August. I have a nephew that is in Jordan right now with his international studies group from over here. They will enjoy their trip, I'm sure.

Are they reading the news?

There is a war going on right now that is elevating by the day

yes, I'd talk them out of it

Just imagine living in a small state the size of New Jersey while Missiles are coming and going.

You think that's wise time to go on a vacation?

One can assume that his parents already know this and have weighed the risk. And since they are Christians, I'm pretty sure they've prayed about taking the trip as well. He can try and talk them out of it, but it's really not his place.

Praying for what you want can sometimes end up just being a rejection of God's will...and bad things happen.

Wisdom is supreme... Just because you have been planning a trip for a year is not justification for ignoring obvious signals to change those plans.

prayer is not even needed to make the obvious call on postponing this trip.

That's my 2 cents

You guys are missing the biggest assurance. Burt Reynolds from the other Israel post says he is in Israel over looking the Gaza Strip and all is fine. The Palestinians are peaceful as lambs and no rockets are being fired.

well that settles it, perhaps they should pray to you instead, then you can lay it on their hearts

It's ok to mock my opinion.

Missiles launches are happening... about the same distance from Princeton NJ to Grand Central Station (Manhattan)

While going with a group may give you some security, it's false security.

your opinion is obviously that you know best, better than how they are being led.

America use to have a spine, when Americans had a spine. At least Israel does, well they really don't have a choice. Allow people that actually have a pair to make up their own minds and stop acting like the group, called libs, that want to control others, because they think they know better than the rest.

Part if the trip is going to Jerusalem as well. I'm just gunna let them make those decisions on their own. Who am I to tell em no. To them it's a once in a lifetime chance.

My biggest fear is something happens bc u know this administration isn't going to do shite to get Americans out.

what the heck man?

the OP asked for opinions, I provided one.. you don't have have to imply I am being arrogant about it...

Let's review the situation:

Missiles flying over head = not a great time for a vacation

But you think God is leading them into the promise land because they are quote praying about it?

No, the OP is worried because the parents might just be being a little to existed about going and just ignoring common sense.. Grown ups do it all the time.

The prayer in my view should begin and end with "Lord make it obvious what we should do"

All I said was, Missiles overhead are kind of obvious it's not a great time for a vacation.

If you think otherwise, please explain

You have cause to be concerned but I don't believe I would try to talk them out of the trip. At some point we have to resolve to lead the life we want and not allow our fears to diminish it in any way.
